Alex has been a director of educational programs for the past 15 years in congregational schools as well as Solomon Schechter Day Schools. In this time Alex has developed an educational philosophy and structure that he has shared with communities throughout the country.

This educational philosophy centers around the need to create meaningful, authentic and applied family-centered experiences for community members. Educational moments must prepare the participant for these experiences, but true learning only occurs when it is applied in real settings. The most authentic places for these experiences are the home and the community—it is the task of the educators and the community to create these moments and then develop the support mechanism to encourage and support participation in these immersive environments.

The community is the laboratory for classroom exploration.

Alex has done workshops with USCJ, JEA and communities throughout the country to explore these ideas. If you are interested in creating a workshop or scholar in residency program that focus on this approach, please email Alex; samizeek@gmail.com
